I’m looking back through my journal and love reading and reminiscing. I have been writing for a few years and I’m thrilled that I have, because it allows me the ability to look back in my writings and see how my thoughts and perceptions may have changed and what I’ve learned along the way. It’s been great too, since I use to think that I could keep it all in my head. All those thoughts bouncing around, back and forth trying to remember all that stuff and catalogue it, organize it, OH BOY.
“It’s estimated that we have 60,000 thoughts a day. Yikes, and probably the number 1 recommendation by all life coaches, any self-help books, all suggest journaling.” I used to write when I was younger, and stopped… since I started again, I will continue to do so, I love it. If the only thing you do for yourself is write out your thoughts, DO THAT and date the pages. This is also a wonderful time to recollect all the accomplishments that we have achieved this past year. When you look back please, please, recognize all accomplishments. “One of the biggest problems is we don’t realize the volume of items we do in a day, never-mind a year’s time.” Take a moment and reflect on the amount of times you do laundry, visits with family and friends, laughter, gatherings, training, travel, doctor’s appointments, caring for others, work, showing up everyday to your life. We trudge through life and don’t even grasp all our daily tasks are important, we are important. We tend to look at what we haven’t done, trudge, trudge, and what we still have too do. “All the small things add up to great moments.” I find journaling can be like a grocery list, or a scrapbook, that keeps our thoughts and plans organized and easier to accomplish when we know what we want to achieve. Oh, and I can’t stress this enough, please don’t think that any item, goal, dream, thought is little, they aren’t, all are important. Have fun with your journal too, I draw happy faces, or hearts, any image I’m able to draw and adds to the emotion of the writing. Another favorite I enjoy while I’m reviewing, is to take the opportunity and make notes of what pops into my mind as I’m reading since these too invoke other thoughts, whatever comes to mind. “Writing our ideas and thoughts down help to keep goals in the forefront and we are more likely to complete them.” Life can be so full and rewarding and when we write it down, it gives us space in our head, it gathers and organizes our thoughts, it gives light to patterns, it can release energy that is held. Imagine if you started today, a year from now you can sit and read, reflect and reminisce. I bet you will be amazed by you 😊 May the new year bring you and yours many blessings I would love to hear how journaling has helped you, leave a comment.
